The Detail

Everything in the box.

A four wheel wheelchair that carries the front end as well as the back. When a dog can no longer hold themselves up at the shoulders, a rear support frame is not enough, and this is the frame that takes over.

Who it suits

Dogs with front leg weakness, or with weakness in all four legs. Also dogs recovering from front limb injury or surgery, and dogs whose rear weakness has progressed forward. If your dog is still strong at the front, a rear support frame will be lighter, cheaper and easier for them to manage.

How it helps

  • Four wheels, so the frame carries weight at the front and the rear
  • Front leg support built into the design rather than added on
  • Adjustable as your dog settles into it
  • Four sizes, extra small through large

Getting the size right

Four wheel frames are less forgiving of a rough guess than two wheel frames, because both ends have to line up. Measure using our measuring guide and send us the numbers. We will check them with you before you order.

Good to know

Some assembly is required. Dogs generally take longer to accept a four wheel frame than a two wheel one, because it changes how their whole body moves. Short, calm sessions work far better than long ones.

Front leg weakness has a range of causes and some of them need veterinary attention rather than equipment. If this is new, or came on quickly, please speak to your vet or a canine rehabilitation professional first.

Sizing

Measure first, order second.

Measure on a hard floor with your dog standing and bearing weight. A dog measured sitting or held up measures short, and that single mistake causes more exchanges than everything else combined.

How to measure your dog
SizeRear leg heightHip widthWeight guide
XS15 to 24 cm14 to 20 cm3 to 10 kg
S24 to 34 cm18 to 26 cm10 to 20 kg
M28 to 45 cm20 to 30 cm10 to 20 kg
L35 to 50 cm25 to 38 cm20 to 40 kg

Rear leg height and hip width decide the size. Weight is a cross check only. This manufacturer publishes in centimetres.

Between two sizes? Do not round on your own. Send us the numbers and we will tell you which way to go, because it depends on the product and on whether your dog is likely to gain or lose muscle. Five minutes on email beats a fortnight waiting on an exchange.
