Payment
How you pay.
What we accept, when the money leaves your account, and what we do and do not see.
What we accept
Checkout is handled by Shopify Payments, so you can pay with any of the following.
- Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, both credit and debit
- Apple Pay and Google Pay
- Shop Pay, including Shop Pay Installments where you qualify
- PayPal
The full list is shown at checkout, and the payment icons in our footer reflect what is currently enabled. If a method you expect is missing, it is not available for your region or your order value.
When you are charged
Your card is authorised the moment you place the order and captured shortly afterwards. You are not charged again when the item ships.
If we cannot fulfil an order, for example because a product turns out to be unavailable, we refund it in full to the original payment method. You do not need to chase us for that.
Currency and taxes
All prices on this site are in US dollars and all orders are charged in US dollars. If your card is issued outside the United States your bank may apply its own conversion rate and a foreign transaction fee. That fee is your bank's, not ours, and we never see it.
Sales tax is calculated at checkout from your shipping address and shown before you confirm. There are no import duties or customs charges on orders delivered within the United States.
We do not add handling fees, card surcharges or booking fees. The total at checkout is the total.
Card security
We never see or store your full card number. Card details go directly to our payment processor over an encrypted connection, and we only ever see the last four digits, the card brand and whether the payment succeeded.
The whole store runs over HTTPS, and the payment pages are PCI DSS compliant through Shopify. If you ever receive an email from us asking for card details, it is not from us. Report it and delete it.
Failed and declined payments
A declined payment is almost always the bank rather than the site. The usual causes are a billing address that does not match the card, insufficient funds, an expired card, or a fraud check triggered by an unfamiliar merchant.
- Check the billing address matches your card statement exactly
- Try a different card or Apple Pay
- If your bank blocked it, one call usually clears it
You may see a pending authorisation on a failed attempt. It is not a charge and it drops off on its own, typically within 3 to 5 business days depending on your bank.
Refunds
Refunds go back to the method you paid with. We cannot send a refund to a different card, and we cannot refund to a bank transfer or a gift card unless that is what you paid with.
Once we issue a refund it usually appears within 5 to 10 business days. The delay after that point is your bank's processing time and is outside our control. Our returns and refunds policy sets out what qualifies.
Something wrong with a payment?
Email us with the order number and what happened. We can see whether it reached us, which is usually the question.
