The Detail
Everything in the box.
An elbow brace in water resistant cotton, for the front leg joint that takes most of a dog's weight when they stand. Elbows get sore, they get callused, and on hard floors they get hygromas, and all three are helped by taking the direct pressure off.
Who it suits
Dogs with elbow arthritis, dogs with elbow calluses or pressure sores from lying on hard surfaces, and large breeds who lie down heavily. Also dogs recovering from a front leg strain where the elbow needs support during the day.
What it does not do
Elbow dysplasia and advanced arthritis are structural. A brace makes the joint more comfortable and protects the skin over it, and that is worth having, but it is not treatment. If your dog is lame on a front leg, get that looked at.
How it helps
- Supports and cushions the elbow joint
- Water resistant cotton, so wet grass is not a problem
- Protects against calluses and pressure sores on hard floors
- Four sizes at one price
Getting the size right
Elbow braces slide if they are loose and restrict the shoulder if they are tight. Our measuring guide shows where to measure on a front leg. Send the numbers and we will check them.
| Size | Front elbow length | Elbow circumference | Chest |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 5 to 6 in | 9 to 9.5 in | 16.5 to 25 in |
| M | 5 to 6 in | 9 to 10 in | 19 to 25 in |
| L | 5.5 to 6.5 in | 9.5 to 11 in | 20 to 28 in |
| XL | 6 to 7 in | 11.5 to 12 in | 22 to 30.5 in |
Measure with your dog standing naturally, using a soft tape. If a measurement falls between two sizes, order the larger.
Between two sizes? Do not round on your own. Send us the numbers and we will tell you which way to go, because it depends on the product and on whether your dog is likely to gain or lose muscle. Five minutes on email beats a fortnight waiting on an exchange.
Not sure it is the right one?
Send us your dog's measurements and a short description of how they are moving. We will tell you honestly what we would order, including when the answer is nothing yet.
