The Detail
Everything in the box.
A corrective boot for dogs who knuckle over, where the paw folds under and the dog walks on the top of their foot instead of the pad. Left alone it wears the skin raw across the knuckles within days. This boot lifts the toes and puts a hard anti slip sole between your dog and the ground.
Who it suits
Dogs who drag a paw or knuckle over, whether from nerve weakness, spinal problems or a dropped foot. It is also worth having alongside a wheelchair, because a dog in a rear support frame can still catch a knuckled paw on the ground.
What it does not do
Knuckling is a neurological sign, not a foot problem. The boot protects the foot and helps the toes clear the ground, and that genuinely helps, but it does not address why the paw is folding. If knuckling is new, or getting worse, that is a conversation for your vet.
How it helps
- Lifts the toes so the paw lands the right way up
- Hard anti slip PVC sole for grip on smooth floors
- Canvas upper with leather, built to take dragging
- Protects the skin across the knuckles from wearing through
- Four sizes at one price
Getting the size right
Paw measurement decides this, and a boot that spins on the foot is worse than none. Measure paw width and length using our measuring guide, and check the fit while your dog is standing rather than sitting.
Good to know
Sold individually rather than as a set, so you can buy for the affected leg only. Check underneath daily for rubbing, especially in the first week.
| Size | Paw width | Paw length | Leg circumference | Boot height |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 2.36 in | 2.76 in | 5.1 to 6.4 in | 4.7 in |
| M | 2.55 in | 2.95 in | 6.2 to 7.2 in | 4.9 in |
| L | 2.75 in | 3.15 in | 6.8 to 8.4 in | 5.3 in |
| XL | 2.95 in | 3.35 in | 7.4 to 9.2 in | 5.7 in |
Measure the widest part of the paw with your dog standing, lifting the opposite paw so the one you are measuring takes the weight. Measure the leg one inch above the hock joint.
Between two sizes? Do not round on your own. Send us the numbers and we will tell you which way to go, because it depends on the product and on whether your dog is likely to gain or lose muscle. Five minutes on email beats a fortnight waiting on an exchange.
